I believe that your health is in your hands and that you have a choice when it comes to treating ailments. Some people would like to know about alternatives to conventional medical treatments, I am one of them. So every week I try to find natural ways to treat high blood pressure because in truth the side effects of some high blood pressure medications are hard to handle. So here are This week’s natural alternatives to blood pressure medications.

This week’s natural alternatives To blood pressure medications
  • high blood pressure medications onion turmericOnions: I love eating onions raw or cooked. Although crying when cutting them can make the task much more difficult (Hint put your onions in cold water before slicing your wont cry) the taste is worth it. Onions like their cousin garlic pack a host of cardio-vascular benefits. Onions contain a powerful antioxidant called quercetin. Quercetin helps lower blood pressure but also helps treat chest pain, angina, and also lowers the risk of stroke and heart attack. The secret to getting as much of this enzyme is eating the onions raw or lightly cooked.

  • Natural Alternatives to blood pressure medicationsGarlic: Eating garlic raw or as a supplement also has powerful effects on the cardiovascular system. Studies show that garlic can reduce bad cholesterol by as much as 12% and can slow hardening of the arteries. The active ingredient, allicin, boost the immune system, lower blood pressure and decreases the risk of heart attack and stroke.

  • natural alternatives to blood pressure medications - turmericTurmeric: A spice native to India contain a mega powerful antioxidant called curcumin. Not only does it lower blood pressure but is also a powerful cardioprotective substance. It is an anti-inflammatory, increases blood flow, and provides for healthy blood vessels. One drawback is it in not easily absorbed by the body. In discussing this with a friend of mine, a cardiac surgeon, he told me that by taking a pinch of black pepper on my tongue and then taking the turmeric, the black pepper would cause the body to absorb it more rapidly. Also try turmeric in a beet, apple juice mix for a great blood pressure tonic.

Mother nature has provided us with many things that can help treat various disorders. Many pharmaceutical companies try to replicate and use what the earth has provided for us. Sadly though sometimes the generic is not as good as what nature provides.

This post is not intended to provide medical advice. Nor by any means suggests that you stop taking or reduce your prescribed medications. On the contrary, high blood pressure is a dangerous condition and It is very important that you work with your doctor to get it under control.
