If you’re up-to-date on the recent health trends, then matcha green tea must have caught your eye. Its vibrant color and compatibility to be made into different dishes make it highly palatable. However, this isn’t the first time that the new Instagram-worthy super-food has been in the spotlight.
In fact, matcha tea has been around for thousands of years, and is used by the Japanese as an immunity booster. Did they know about its benefits long before anyone else? Perhaps they did, but these benefits should be the focal point when learning about matcha green tea.
Matcha green tea is different from other types of teas because it contains a far higher nutritional value. This is because matcha green tea is crushed and ground tea leaves. The fine, green powder contains all the locked nutrients of the leaf compared to other teas which contain a mere essence.

Other Health Benefits
Matcha green tea’s ability to reduce the risk of heart diseases stems from its fat burning properties. Aside from a boost of confidence, it also reduces the risk of developing heart diseases. Research on the effect of matcha green tea on cholesterol levels shows that it may be the cause of positive change.
The results prove that there may be a correlation between low cholesterol levels and regular intake of matcha green tea. This draws another obvious conclusion that those who drink matcha green tea are less likely to develop heart diseases compared to those that don’t drink it.
It may seem like taking the time to create matcha tea can add to your workload but it actually eases stress. This is a benefit that many Japanese Zen Buddhists and Chinese Taoists discovered long ago. Having ready-made products at hand is actually much worse in the long run. The actual process of making matcha tea will actually give you a moment to slow down and become aware of what you’re doing.
Matcha tea also contains l-theanine, which is an amino acid that is useful for your body. This is what helps to calm you down and focus on what needs to be done. Once you can drink your bowl of matcha tea and slow down, you’ll stop worrying about things and stress will vanish.

I started drinking 3 cups of matcha tea daily on October 19, 2019 (nearly one year ago.) In July of 2019 I went for my checkup and my blood pressure was 205/95. Pretty unusual considering the fact that in April my pressure was 120/80. Anyway I want to tell you that I took my bp on Friday and it was 150/80. No drugs. No side effects, except good ones. And also my HDL went up 13 points.
Hi Phyllis, Thank you for sharing with us. Eli.
Hi Phyllis, Your welcome. Eli
I like to make matcha lattes with oat milk. Does this diminish any of the health benefits of making it only with water?
Hi TK, No it won’t. Kinkest Regards,
Eli
would decaffeinated matcha tea have the same benefits?
is it readily available?
Hi Jane, The answer is no when it comes to tea bag tea or loose leaf tea. Brewed decaf green tea, in general, offers almost no health benefits because the decaf process removes water-soluble antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals along with caffeine. Kindest regards, Eli.
How much Matcha powder should we use per day to achieve these health benefits? How much Matcha powder per day is too much?
