Medical marijuana has been able to provide relief for people suffering from various types of diseases. I have seen cancer patients go from nausea, vomiting, and not eating, to gaining weight and feeling well again. It has been used to help people with nerve pain, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, crohn’s disease, and cancer to name a few. Some people still feel that medical marijuana should not be used, but the research shows that it improves the quality of life for patients who suffer.
But now there is new research showing that it can help those who suffer from high blood pressure. The research shows that endocannabiniod system is a group of chemicals and receptors naturally produced by the body to regulate various important functions. For example the study found that it helped regulate the cardiovascular system.Researchers found that some endocannabinoids help the heart by normalizing blood pressure and reducing hypertension. Given that this is the very system that cannabis acts on the brain, it makes sense that the plant can be used in a similar fashion to modulate the heart.
According to Casey Riley, “The evidence shows that cannabis and its components can reduce hypertension and, as a result, decrease the risk of many serious diseases. Considering how common high blood pressure is for Americans, turning a blind eye to the cannabis plant is just plain old fashioned ignorance.
