Q: What is the difference between generic and brand name medications for blood pressure? If, in fact, there is little difference, why is there such a price difference? A: Generic prescription medication is the chemical equivalent of the same brand name medication. Some people are willing to pay to have the original product. Think of it like clothing. All blue jeans of the same color, size, and style are equally good at covering your body but can vary tremendously in price based on THE brand name or the company that manufactures them.
