Q: I have asthma, both allergy and exercise induced. Two questions: 1) Can asthma meds increase BP? and 2) Can RESPeRATE help asthma as well? A: Yes, asthma drugs can raise blood pressure but not all of them have this effect. It is important for you to control both your asthma and blood pressure. Use of the RESPeRATE will not interact with medications used to treat asthma. Having asthma is not a contraindication to using the RESPeRATE. How Cardura Reduces Blood Pressure Cardura XL (doxazosin) is one of a class of blood pressure medication called Alpha Adrenergic Blockers or Alpha Blockers. Alpha blockers cause the blood vessels (veins and arteries) to relax and expand, which allows blood to pass more easily through them. Other Alpha Blockers include Flomax, Minipress, Hytrin and Uroxatral. Although these medications are beneficial, many times they are not enough to control your blood pressure.
