Q: Do long term pain medications such a Lyrica and Topamax have an effect on blood pressure? A: Hypertension has been reported as an adverse reaction to Topamax. You may find that your blood pressure is harder to control while you are taking this medication. This does not appear to be a problem with Lyrica.

How Benicar HCT Reduces Blood Pressure Benicar HCT a combination of Olmesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ). Olmesartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). Angiotensin II is a chemical that causes the muscles surrounding the blood vessels to contract (tighten). This in turn narrows the blood vessels. This narrowing increases the pressure within the blood vessels and can cause high blood pressure (hypertension). Olmesartan blocks the action of angiotensin II.
