I have started using it lately and it seems to give consistent readings, 150/85 to 130/78 depending upon the time of day I take the reading. I am wondering if I should buy a new monitor to be sure that I am getting good readings. Do these devices wear out or lose accuracy over time? How Hyzaar Reduces Blood Pressure Hyzaar is an antihypertensive combination drug containing hydrochlorothiazide and losartan. Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) decreases the amount of fluid in your body by increasing the amount of salt and water you lose in your urine. Losartan is one of a new class of blood pressure medication called angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs).
