Another super fruit – mangoes, are a powerhouse of nutrients that can reduce high blood pressure.
Raspberries, blueberries and strawberries are not the only super fruits that people with high blood pressure should reach for. Mangoes pack as many nutrients that are not only good for hypertension, but can protect the body against cancer, heart diseases and degenerative diseases.
Mangoes contain just as many antioxidants, vitamins A and E, and selenium as other super fruits. Studies have shown that these may kill cancer cells and tumors and stave off heart diseases and other diseases. In fact, one small mango has two thirds of the daily recommended dose of vitamin A and one-fourth of the recommended daily dose of vitamin C ― which repair skin and body cells and boosts the immune system. They also contain good quantities of fiber, vitamin K, phosphorus, magnesium and iron. Research has shown that mangoes’ high magnesium and potassium content to lower blood pressure significantly.
A natural way to lower high blood pressure is to follow a healthy diet and to exercise. Being overweight and hypertensive is a dangerous mix. Mangoes are a low-calorie fruit with one large mango containing only 135 calories. They also contain pectin, which is a soluble dietary fiber established as a cholesterol-lowering substance. They are definitely a healthier alternative to high calorie snacks and fattening foods!
One clinical study found that African mango seed extracts significantly lowered systolic blood pressure. The authors also found that the active extracts of the African mango helped lower blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels, which may, in turn, lower blood pressure. Another clinical trial also found that African mango seed extracts improved lipid profiles in obese patients.
There are other natural ways to control high blood pressure. RESPeRATE, for example, is the first medical device clinically proven and approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a successful treatment of hypertension. The non-drug and non-invasive device interactively guides the user through unique breathing exercises that relax constricted blood vessels and thereby lower blood pressure levels.
