When I went in for my physical this year, my blood pressure was a 140/70. My doctor instantly prescribed medication and I was wondering if she’s looking into this enough?
If you go for an annual physical every year, it is likely your doctor has seen your blood pressure gradually increasing over time. If this is the case, treating you now is appropriate. Your reading shows systolic high blood pressure which is common in older people. If this is the first time you have ever had an abnormal reading, you should discuss the need for instant treatment further with your doctor. Keep in mind a reading in the prehypertension range is not normal.
