Q:
My 42 year–old daughter has not been taking her medication for her high blood pressure.  She has been taking organic apple cider vinegar 3 times a day, keeping it normal.  Does she really need medication?

A:
It is important that your daughter discuss with her doctor whether or not she needs high blood pressure medication and she should also discuss the fact that she has been able to keeping it under control without her medication.  Apple cider vinegar may have some health benefits, but enough studies have not been done to know for sure.  The few studies that have been conducted have indicated positive results.  Long-term and excessive use of apple cider can be problematic due to its acidic nature.  Furthermore, it can have negative interactions with certain medications such as diuretics.   It is important that your daughter speak with her doctor about her use of Apple Cider to control her high blood pressure.

In general, many people are able to control their blood pressure naturally with a healthy diet, regular exercise, losing weight if necessary, not smoking, and using Resperate.   It is advised to incorporate all these natural lifestyle changes when one has high blood pressure and not to just depend on one strategy.  While Apple Cider may be helping today, it may cause problems in the future while lifestyle changes will only prove beneficial today and for the long-run, without side effects.
