What is the relationship between blood pressure and menopause?
(Dr. Rowena Sobczyk)
Q: Does high blood pressure have anything to do with menopause?
A: The risk of getting high blood pressure increases in women after menopause. Actually, just getting older increases the risk of high blood pressure in everyone but, for women it is even riskier due to all the changes that come with menopause, especially weight gain. Weight gain can easily cause in most people and increase in blood pressure. It is especially important for women in this age group to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to keep an eye on their blood pressure.
